Product Info

Rugged, yet beautiful, Autumn Slate is reminiscent of the variegated leaves on the ground during Fall. Bursts of gold, tan, red and gray throughout the stone make it an exciting natural phenomenon. A mixture of warm and metallic tones, it is everything you are looking for in a colored slate.

Slate is a fine-grained metamorphic rock with no crystals or garnets. It has a completely irregular pattern - some tiles are almost totally colored with bright oranges and reds, others are more muted, with a metallic gray and only a smear of those Fall colors. It is almost artistic in its formation, like a beautiful watercolor painting.

Slate is a naturally porous stone, however, once it has been sealed to protect it from the elements, it is incredibly durable and can last a lifetime. For this reason, it is extremely versatile and can be used on almost any application. Some slates are used on roof tiles to protect a building from rain and storms, but Autumn slate is reserved for uses where its color display can delight its owners.

This tile has a natural cleft finish, highlighting the stone's rugged, earthy attributes. It is carved into tiles by cleaving the stone along its layers, this creates an organically flat surface which can then be cut to size. The tiles are level and soft underfoot but retain their original grooves and ridges. It's a finish which works perfectly with slate's features and cannot be successfully replicated by human-made materials.

It also has a gauged back, a machine-cut, level surface which allows for a completely uniform application. Whilst there is a small variation in thickness between each tile, this only adds to the rustic natural stone effect.

The beautiful variety of Autumn slate's coloring creates a totally irregular pattern. The result is a quaint and acutely charming traditional look. Clad fireplaces and chimneys with Autumn slate to create that Aspen luxury retreat you've been dreaming of. Or pair it with wooden kitchen cabinets and a marble countertop for the ultimate in high-end, cozy design.

These tiles are in dimension. They have a slight variation in their thickness which adds to their rugged, earthy charm.
