Honed Tiles

Stone tiles come in a variety of finishes (polished, tumbled, honed, etc.) which can affect the look and feel of your room and the maintenance of your stone. When the surface of the stone tile has been ground down to achieve a consistent, smooth texture and flat, matte finish, it is honed. It is a compromise between the polished and natural finishes. Honed tiles have an elegant matte finish that works well as a backdrop in larger bathrooms and kitchens or spaces that have exceptional natural light or gleaming light fixtures. Honed tiles are fairly porous and natural-looking. Besides, honed tiles are scratch-resistant and more durable, so they may be a better option for floors, stairs and other areas that must easily withstand foot traffic.
