Following on from the rectangular tradition the contemporary look offers longer, leaner dimensions. A standard classic subway tile measures 3”x 6”. Although this can vary, a subway’s width is approximately half its length. With these contemporary look subway tiles, you will find options of 2.5”x 10” and 3”x 8”. Thinner and longer than a classic 3”x6” tile, their ultra-elongated shape brings new possibilities for your interiors.


    With these long sleek lines, the tile carries the eye further, creating a feeling of motion. A classic subway tile brick-bond pattern becomes wave-like, enhanced all the more by some of the softly monochromatic tiles in the range. It is a striking look with lots of potential.

    The original and most common size for subway tiles is 3”x6”. There is some variation to this, but the width of the classic tile usually measures half the length of the tile. Contemporary tiles are a more elongated version, with a greater difference in width and length. Common sizes of contemporary tile might be 2.5”x10” or 3”x8”.

    HOW DO YOU CUT CONTEMPORARY LOOK SUBWAY TILES?

    To cut porcelain tiles, which are harder and more brittle than ceramic tile, a wet cutter yields reliable results, avoiding snapping and chipping. Ceramic tiles are easier to handle and don’t require professional tools. It is possible for you to cut these tiles with a simple snap tile cutter.
