    GLUE DOWN VS. FLOATING FLOORS

If you’re trying to choose between glue down vs. floating floors, rest assured that we have both options in our range. Whether you’re looking for a solution for your living room, kitchen, or bathroom, we have both installation options available for you. Floating floors are less likely to warp, but they can be noisy.

HOW TO INSTALL GLUE DOWN HARDWOOD FLOORS

It’s easy to install glue down hardwood floors so long as your surface is prepared properly. Make sure your subfloor is smooth and bump-free before installing your floor. If your subfloor is made from concrete, you’ll need a dampproof membrane before fitting your flooring. Add a layer of glue across the subfloor surface, fit the hardwood flooring, and glue in between each plank before slotting them in position.

WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF GLUE DOWN HARDWOOD FLOORS?

Glue down hardwood floors have some pros and cons attached. The advantages are that your floor will have a more solid sound and feel. Gluing is a more permanent solution, and you should hear no squeaking once your floor is in place. On the downside, you’ll need to spend a little more time preparing the subfloor and it’ll be more difficult when the time comes to change your flooring.

HOW TO REMOVE GLUE FROM HARDWOOD FLOORS

Hardwood floor glue removal can be a huge pain, especially if the product has been fixed with waterproof glue for hardwood floors. For glue that hasn’t yet dried, you’ll need to use acetone for solvent based flues, or a detergent solution for a water-based glue. However, if the glue is already dry, you’ll need to use ice to freeze the glue, then use a blunt edged implement to fracture it before using acetone to clean up the residue.
