SUBWAY TILE FLOORS - VERSATILITY AT ITS BEST

When considering your floor and décor, subway tiles are the perfect way to finish off your interior design schemes. With our wide range of porcelain, stone and marble subway tiles in larger dimensions, you can transform your spaces in no time. From pale grays to dark browns, you are certain to find your perfect neutral floor tile that will work with any décor scheme.

Subway tile flooring makes itself at home in bathrooms and kitchens, laundry and mud rooms, hallways and porches, and gardens, so the sky really is your limit. Creating a seamless transition from kitchen to outdoors is made possible with our natural stone tiles that are suitable for interior or exterior use. This would work particularly well for soft natural themes where wooden cabinets and simple styling yearn to bring the outdoors in.

Subway flooring brings the same visual interest to a room that we enjoy with subway wall tiles, and all those eye-catching layouts are options too. Chevrons, herringbones and classic horizontals, to name but a few, will give your spaces that little extra something on the style front.

In porches and mudrooms, you can use smaller subway floor tiles in tumbled stone to give the space a cobbled, country feel. This is delightful in homes with well-developed gardens encapsulating the property, creating a country cottage feel.

A SUBWAY TILE FLOOR AT THE HEART OF YOUR DÉCOR

There are so many beautiful options available that a favorite floor tile can be the springboard for the whole aesthetic of your room. If you are drawn to calm, neutral interiors, stone flooring can be showcased in all its splendor. Many of our subway floor tiles are variegated, bringing lots of visual interest, as well as colors and shades to play with in the rest of your scheme.

Porcelain and stone make a stunning option for dining and living areas. If you have a fireplace, choose a matching surround to tie the look together. With simple, charming furniture and a large textural rug, you will create a beautiful room that is not only stunning but also a sumptuous place to relax.

Subway tile floors are not only stylish but highly practical in kitchens and dining rooms, as they are easy to sweep and will withstand spills. Choosing a warm toned subway will create a cozy socializing space that enhances rich tones in the overall interior scheme. A darker mahogany brown tile will pair with plums and deep reds to create a coziness bordering on festive, while sandier toned subway tiles will add depth to muted brights and pastel schemes.

SUBWAY TILE BATHROOM FLOORS – CONTEMPORARY CHARM

A subway tile bathroom floor will take your room to the next level of chic. Creating a mellow, welcoming space has never been easier than with the warm tones and textures natural stone and marble can offer.

Carry the charm of stone wall tiles to the flooring for a rustic, natural aesthetic. The soft, velvety surfaces of our honed stones and marble will transport you to the Mediterranean for a bathroom aesthetic that feels like your own private haven.

In a modern decorative scheme based around fresh whites and subtle grays, one of our limestones, or perhaps Carrara marble, would finish the room off to perfection. If you are looking for a neutral theme, playing with beiges and taupe for intimacy and comfort, you can choose a slightly darker shade than your walls in porcelain or natural tile. This approach will create balance and harmony.

One important thing to consider when choosing the tile finish for the bathroom is that floors may become wet and slippery. Matte, honed, and tumbled finishes are safer options here, as they offer better traction than a polished finish.

CAN YOU USE SUBWAY TILE ON FLOORS?

Subway tiles can be used on floors. Just check the applications in the product listing to make sure it is approved for use as flooring. You can also use the drop-down menu to select your options according to PEI ratings. This will ensure you choose a subway tile on your floors that is durable enough to withstand heavy traffic.

WHAT FLOOR TILE GOES WITH SUBWAY TILE BACKSPLASH?

The tile does not have to match by any means, but to avoid a conflict in aesthetics, choose a similar finish for continuity and a colorway that ties in with both the cabinetry and the backsplash. For light color schemes in the splashback, a slightly deeper tone in floor tile is a good way to underscore the look. For a gentle, complementary contrast, try natural stone or marble.

HOW TO LAY SUBWAY TILE ON FLOORS

You can lay your subway tile on floors in many of the same ways you might choose for a backsplash. Different sized subways in natural stone can create a delightful patchwork effect, while neutral, deep biscuit tones look great in a chevron to give the impression of a parquet floor.

WHAT FLOOR TILE SIZE WORKS BEST WITH LARGE SUBWAY TILES ON THE WALLS?

Balance is key when choosing what size tile to use on the floor. If you have used tiles on your walls, always go for a larger tile on the floor to prevent the room from feeling top-heavy. Large floor tiles also have the benefit of having fewer joins, meaning less grouting. Larger tiles will also quieten the décor, where too many smaller tiles can look too busy over a surface as large as a living space.
