A blend of pale colored, sparkling quartz, this Crystal White Granite will make a great addition to any interior. From afar, the stone appears to be a subtle, off-white or pale gray. Only when you move closer do you realize it is comprised of tiny crystals varying in shade and tone, from the totally clear to the bright white and even dark grays. While each tile has its own unique blend of colors, the overall effect is a consistent pale gray.
Granite is created when hot magma from below the earth's surface bubbles up and rapidly cools. It is this quick cooling process which leads to the formation of tiny crystals within the stone. It is incredibly hardwearing and is more than capable of resisting the effects of a hectic family lifestyle. While granite is relatively non-porous compared to some of its sedimentary cousins, it must be sealed with a stone protectant to ensure moisture resistance. This process protects the stone against stains and liquids. Granite is incredibly scratch resistant, more so than most other natural stones, making it great for areas of the home that will get regular use.
A flamed finish is achieved by firing extremely hot temperatures at the stone. The surface of the tile splits and bursts, crackling under the heat. This creates a unique texture that is slightly rough. It is great for flooring as it provides enough traction to prevent slips and trips. It can be used in a kitchen and even in a bathroom setting as the roughness provides sufficient grip, even while the tile is wet. A flamed finish is often used for exterior applications for this very reason.
The firing process also slightly alters the colors of the stone, creating more muted tones. Where a polished finish might create bright, beaming whites, a flamed tile is subtler. The whites and grays are softer and blend with each other rather than clash harshly.
Crystal White granite is a subtle stone that is totally designed versatile. It works perfectly with almost any design, from luxury opulence, to utter simplicity and everywhere in between. You can create practical, modern kitchens by pairing it with white or gray kitchen cupboards. Go for a minimalist look with understated accessories, or add a pop of color for a bold, statement design.
A flamed finish granite is functional as well as beautiful, bathroom floors and outside areas are no problem for this practical stone. Add a bright white bathroom suite, both traditional or sleek and modern will work, to create a light and spacious room. When used outside it acts as a perfect base for building a garden design around.
