LARGE FORMAT BASALT TILES – DISCREET BEAUTY

Basalt is an excellent building material thanks to its high strength to weight ratio. It is a robust option for interior and exterior flooring as well as for durable backsplashes and wall coverings. Our tile sizes range from 2”x 4” to 24” x 48” so there is sure to be a size for any project you want to complete.

This stone offers good traction which makes it ideal for flooring. As basalt is non-porous, not only does it make it more resistant to staining but means water can run off efficiently. In this way it is a popular stone for commercial use where there is a lot of foot traffic.

Basalt tile comes in several finishes. Chiseled gives a real taste of the industrial aesthetic that natural stone lends itself to so well. Honed brings a softer contemporary feel that adds some delightful texture for indoor spaces. Externally, flamed basalt can be an excellent choice with its rough-textured surface providing excellent non-slip properties—a highly practical consideration for businesses.

USES FOR LARGE FORM BASALT TILES – CONTEMPORARY VERSATILITY

Large form basalt tiles look stunning as patios. As a rule, smaller slabs like ceramics look better on a small patio area and, similarly, larger slabs work better on larger areas. For small spaces this allows tiles to add interest, and in large areas this principle avoids having too many joints that can be visually disruptive.

A patio foundation should be well drained and levelled before installation, so the frequency of joints beneath patio furniture should not pose any problems for stability.
