GRANITE BACKSPLASH KITCHEN DESIGNS

Kitchens are one of the most popular locations to install granite tiles and it isn’t too surprising why that’s the case. With a granite backsplash kitchen aesthetics can be taken to a whole new level of elegance, while also enjoying the benefits that come with a durable and robust tile that will stand the test of time.

A granite backsplash in your kitchen is also the perfect complement to other granite features such as granite countertops or floor tiles. It represents a great way to create a fully coordinated and cohesive look that will never fail to impress.

HOW TO REMOVE A GRANITE BACKSPLASH

After ensuring all your surfaces have been properly protected from damage, use a utility knife to cut the old caulking away from the backsplash joints. Cut the bottom and top edges throughout the whole backsplash, exposing its edges. Next, use a putty knife, sliding it between the wall and the backsplash. Gently, pry the backsplash away from your wall. Repeat on every tile until the entire backsplash is removed.

HOW TALL IS GRANITE BACKSPLASH?

The height of your granite backsplash is really up to you, but most people choose a backsplash that is a minimum of four inches in height. If you opt for a short backsplash you can use the space below the cabinets in your kitchen for other purposes such as storage or alternative decoration. Nevertheless, you need to remember if you go for this option your wall will be exposed to stains that will be hard to remove. Many people cover their whole wall with backsplash for a cohesive and luxurious look.

HOW TO INSTALL A GRANITE BACKSPLASH

The first step to install a granite backsplash is to decide how tall you want it to be and where the tiles will be fitted. After measuring and working out how many tiles you need and choosing the right tiles for you, the next step is to prepare your wall. Make sure it’s clean and dry. Next, apply mortar to your wall to fix your tiles in place, ensuring that you align them correctly. Let the granite tiles dry before applying grout, taking care to fill all the joints. When the grout is completely dry, wipe over the surface with a wet cloth to remove the excess.
