HOW TO CLEAN GRANITE FLOORS

It’s surprisingly easy to clean granite floors thanks to their low maintenance construction. No matter whether your flooring is pavers, tiles, or cobbles, they can easily be kept clean by washing them periodically with a solution of mild detergent and warm water. Make sure to only ever use a soft mop, cloth, or sponge when cleaning granite, however, since abrasive brushes or sponges will cause damage to the surface.

CAN GRANITE BE USED FOR FLOORING?

Granite is an excellent choice for flooring because it is very strong and hard-wearing. Suitable for use in even high-traffic areas it can withstand a lot of heavy duty use, which makes it a great option for floors in all kinds of spaces. Granite floors are also easy to clean and maintain while looking stunning, so it isn’t surprising that they’re very popular.

HOW TO FIX GRANITE FLOORING

Your firs step to fix granite flooring is to ensure that the subfloor has been properly prepared. It must be free of any grime or debris and completely dry in order to apply the adhesive. Plan how you’ll lay out your granite flooring before applying any adhesive to avoid making any errors. Once you’re happy with the alignment, mix the mortar and apply it to the floor with a trowel to a thickness of between 6 and 8mm. Place your tiles onto the mortar, using plastic spacers to ensure the correct alignment. Press firmly to ensure they are well-fixed in position. Leave them to dry before applying grout to the surface of the flooring, taking care to get it into all of the joints so that no water or dirt can get under the edges.
